COLLEGE STUUUUUF!

So. It's getting down to crunch time on my college applications. Just because I can, I'm posting my chart on things I need to do. I got accepted at Tulane before I made this list, so their not on here, and I got accepted to KU last week, so they'll be comming off soon, too. I just finished applying to Truman here an hour ago, so hopefully that will work out for me.

Or course I just had to choose tonight to get inpired to do some of this. Tonight - when collegeboard.com just decided to go into mainanance mode for awhile and ACT.org took a 5-hour haicienda. (I think I even spelled that right).

So. Yeah. Fun fun.

I'm sadistic.

Hello! I've decided to make it my goal to try to post at least once every 3 weeks. So... new stuff...

How about my schedule? Just so I can laugh at myself a couple of years from now.

Hour 1 - Calculus BC (IB/AP)

Hour 2 - English 12 (IB)

Hour 3 - American Government / 20th Century World History (IB)

Hour 4 - Psychology (AP)

Hour 5 - Choraliers!!!

Hour 6 - Music Theory (IB/AP)

Hour 7 - French 5 (IB) in a French 4 Class (Honors)

Dang. I AM sadistic.

Oh! Other newness. Last night us Choraliers got to go ON STAGE at the Irish Festival to sing with the Elders. (A really funky group with a full drumset, an electric guitar, a bass guitar, and an accordion. And yet they produce Irish music.) We sang this really sad song called "Men of Erin". Because I can, the lyrics:

Fare thee well my boy as you wonder this night
Be not feared in the darkness my heart is your light
As you go brave Men of Erin
Faith and love by your side
I will dream of your peace in the night.

Please don’t cry my Mother as you sit by the hearth
I will dance your memories with joy in my heart
I will go now and pray as I travel this land
And live by the lessons you gave.

CHORUS

Please don’t cry my Father as you sit by the hearth
I will dance your memories with joy in my heart
I will go now and pray as I travel this land
And live by the lessons you gave.

CHORUS

Please don’t cry my Children
As you stand by my Grave
I have danced your memories all of my days
I will go now and pray as I travel this land
And live be the lessons you gave.

It's really sad, really slow, and really sweet. This song was written by the lead singer as he left Ireland to come to America - leaving his entire family behind him.

Okay, something else...

I finally finished my Extended Essay! I've spent nearly a year on this stupid thing, and at least 40 hours on it and now it is DONE!!! The topic? A Comparison of Anit-Utopian Motifs in Brave New World and The Giver. FUUUUUUNNNNNN.

Also, I have picked up my first time-travel romance in FOREVER. Usually, they annoy the living daylights out of me. Most authors spend the entire book dithering... "Do I stay in the past/future?" Or "Do I go home to my friends and family?" "Do I love him/her enough to stay forever..." And the like.

(Damnation, I wish that I could double space these paragraphs!!!)

This book, called When I Fall in Love does a great job, in that they only spend a chapter or two on it, rather the entire book. Also, they include, like, OMG, like SUBPLOTS!!!!111

What a concept. I drives me up the wall when authors think that timetravel alone is enough to make their story worth reading. Seriously. They just have to be thinking, "Hey I just made a modern-day woman fall 2 centuries back in time. What more do you want from me!"

I wonder why it is that all my posts have to be super long?

And the most depressing part? This post is currently 532 words long. My Extended Essay had 4000 words. Do you hear me? FOUR FREAKING THOUSAND WORDS. Drove me crazy. It drove me blooming crazy.

Okay. wrapping up. Ummm...

In general, though, I am fixated on College. Yes, with a capital C. Almost everything I do is geared towards getting me through Senior year and into said establishment.

And there you have it.  Lots of random little questions have been answered for no apparent purpose! Yay!!!

I'm here!

Well, hello peoples.

I am back from zone-out-ville. I really don't have anything new or profound to post. I have been trying really hard not to stress out over college, IB stuff, my grandpa's health, or the short duration of summer.

So... the good things that have been going on. It IS summer, and I am loving every minute of it. I just got back from Virginia yesterday and brought back my cousin Amanda. She's keeping me on my feet and making sure I don't do anything...drastic.... towards my sisters.

Speaking of which, there have been 2 new additions to my life since my last post. The first is Duke, a now 7-month old Labrador Retriever that puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. He weighs about 70 pounds and SHEDS. He's gold with beautiful golden eyes and a super-long tounge that always seems to be sticking out. He's cute, but lets just say I'm still adjusting to him. The secound addition is my little kitten, Duchess. (Get it?) Dutches was about 8 weeks old when we found her and that now makes her around 14 weeks, or 3 1/2 months. She is ADORABLE. She's an orange tabby with faint stripes. She has 4 white stockings and a white bib. Her eyes are golden. She got to go with us to Virginia. She travels well and was always friendly with both humans and animals.

I don't have any pictures of them on this computer, but to give you an idea:

 This colored body

But with a face more like this

An almost-Duke, save for the dark eyes and nose (Duke's is pink)

And there you have it! My new menagerie.
